How it works
The calculation is simple: Net salary = Gross salary × (1 − withholding rate). The important part is the withholding rate, which you enter here instead of the tool guessing it — because income tax, social security and other contributions vary enormously by country, region, and your personal situation (number of children, type of contract, other deductions...).
Where to get your withholding rate
The most reliable way is to look at a real payslip: divide what you actually receive (net) by that month's gross, and the difference is your approximate withholding rate. If you don't have payslips yet, you can use an estimate based on your country's tax tables and adjust it later — the result will always be as accurate as the figure you enter.
Frequently asked questions
How is the net salary calculated here?
Net = Gross × (1 − withholding rate). You enter your total withholding rate (taxes + social security or other contributions), because it varies a lot by country, state or region, and your personal situation.
Why don't you calculate taxes automatically for my country?
Because income tax brackets, social security contributions and deductions change constantly and vary enormously from one country to another, even within the same country by region. A fixed table would give incorrect results for most people — that's why we ask for your real withholding rate.
How do I find out my real withholding rate?
You can check it on your payslip (compare the gross and net for a normal month) or on your latest tax return. If you don't know it exactly, use an estimate — you can adjust it anytime.
